After Trump Scraps Key Climate Report, Scientists Plow Ahead Anyway

"Some of the ousted climate scientists have just published their own research paper, identifying changes in the research field."

"After the Trump administration dismissed scientists behind a key national climate report last year, some of them decided they’d keep working on it — but from outside the government.

Now, those scientists have published their first paper, part of a new effort they say will provide a home for the type of research that would’ve formed the basis of a National Climate Assessment.

“Climate science must continue to advance even if it’s not politically favored,” said Costa Samaras, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and one of the lead authors of the new paper. He was also one of the researchers dismissed from working on the assessment last year."
