The Collier Prize for State Government Accountability is initiating a new quarterly award to recognize impactful reporting on state institutions. No fees to enter. All media platforms are eligible. Next deadline is Dec 1, 2025. 

Afreximbank's Creative Africa Nexus programme invites entries by Jun 30 from filmmakers aged 18 to 35 years old, living in Africa and the Diaspora. Three winners will receive a cash prize of $2000, have their film screened at CANEX at IATF2025 in Algiers, Algeria, Sep 4-10, and an expenses-paid trip to attend.

The World Food Forum's Global Youth Action Initiative invites fiction and non-fiction entries to this global short film competition. Filmmakers must be 18-39 years old. Winning films may be screened at the festival in Rome from Oct 13-17, 2025. Cash prizes. Enter by Jul 21.

This annual award recognizes an individual or group who has advanced freedom of expression in Canada with a $2,000 CAD cash prize. Deadline is Jun 16, 2025.

The Student Press Law Center annually presents awards to recognize exceptional efforts of high school and college journalists in fighting for student press freedom and in telling important stories of their communities. Deadline: Jun 30, 2025.

Internews’ Earth Journalism Network is offering reporting grants to journalists in Africa to support the production of in-depth stories on threats faced by great apes, particularly the impact of disease and other health considerations, as well as conservation strategies to protect these species and their habitats. Deadline: Jun 4, 2025.

This course, July 7-25, 2025 in NYC, is for journalists worldwide who report stories as well as editors who manage investigative projects or teams. Six full scholarships are available to aspiring investigative reporters and editors living and working in Latin America. Apply by May 15.

EurekAlert! provides travel funding and support to early-career science, technology and health journalists from low- and middle-income countries to attend the AAAS Annual Meeting. The 2026 Meeting takes place in Phoenix, AZ, February 12-14. Apply by May 12, 2025. 

The South Asian Journalists Association offers scholarships to help students afford tuition and other costs associated with higher education to pursue their journalism degree. In 2025, up to $30,000 will be distributed among up to six students in the US or Canada. Deadline: May 16, 2025.
