The 2026 HKIFF takes place April 1-12. Films must have been completed after Jan. 1, 2025. English subtitles are required for non-English language films. Cash prizes in multiple categories. Deadlines: Nov 2 (earlybird); Dec 31 (late).

Journalists from all 46 countries of the Council of Europe, Belarus and Russia are invited to present their best work produced in the past year. They have the opportunity to become Prize Laureates and be awarded 10,000 euro prizes. Deadline is Dec 14, 2025.

This new Journalismfund.eu grant and mentoring program aims to empower 50 local independent media outlets in EU member states and participating countries in the Creative Europe Programme with grants of €5,000 maximum. Next deadline is Apr 3, 2025.

The International Center for Journalists' brand-new reporting grants initiative will award $2,000-$3,000 grants and possibly mentorship to at least two winning proposals focused on climate and climate change, and exploring this topic in the Global South. Deadline is Nov 1, 2024.

Using photography as a tool for social justice, this Mas Retina, Catalan Association for Peace and International Action for Peace competition aims to offer a look at global problems and the causes that give rise to them. Ten projects will be exhibited in Barcelona, Spain. Cash prizes. Enter by Oct 14, 2025.

Earth Journalism Network is offering three media grants of up to $8,000 each to support innovative, investigative and/or enterprise reporting projects on environmental or climate change issues in the US or Canada that call attention to topics, groups and/or locations lacking representation in mainstream media. Deadline: Nov 7, 2024.

The Society of Professional Journalists' New America Award honors public service journalism that explores and exposes issues of importance to immigrant or ethnic communities in the United States. Although not required, collaboration with ethnic media is taken into account. Deadline is Mar 11, 2026.

This no-fee award, new in 2024, recognizes exemplary journalism of the highest standards that is reported and published in the face of ethical challenges. Three categories — student, local and national/international significance — will present individual cash awards of up to $15,000. Deadline is Dec 22, 2025.

The National Association of Science Writers is offering two travel grants of up to $3,000 to Indigenous journalists with an interest in writing about science, medicine or the environment to attend this year's ScienceWriters annual meeting in Raleigh, N.C., Nov. 8-11. Apply by Sep 17.

This program will provide up to eight photographers with a $7,000 grant to work on their projects in their Arab country of residence over a period of 10 months. The grant may be used to begin a new project or to complete work on an existing project. Apply by Dec 10, 2025.
