This online Investigative Reporters and Editors conference will provide professional development opportunities that focus on DEI issues within the newsroom and in news coverage, as well as past NICAR and IRE Conference sessions on data skills and investigative techniques. 

In Strasbourg, France, the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe (CASE), the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) and the Council of Europe will host their second European Anti-SLAPP Conference as a hybrid event.

The Incubator for Media Education and Development's annual gathering will take place in Athens, Greece. Topics include press freedom, artificial intelligence, data journalism, reporting on the climate crisis, corruption, war and innovative sustainability schemes to promote media independence.

Belgium and UNESCO will host the 32nd World Press Freedom Day Conference in Brussels. This year's theme is "Reporting in the Brave New World: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Press Freedom and the Media." A one-day in-person event will take place on May 7 on information as a public good in the age of AI.
